One of my very good friends got married this weekend, and it was just one of those absolutely amazing and fabulous weddings. I had such a great time!! I was told I was in charge of taking pictures so had a fun time with my camera and then passing it over to my friends and having them take a shot too!

Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR.
There’s an embedded flickr slideshow, probably takes a while to load. Took loads of pics – as you can only imagine when given free reign :)

I celebrated mothers day earlier, but of course I have to give a little nod to my dearest mum here. :) She’s been through a really rough time recently with losing my Dad, things were supposed just be so different. But despite my mom always thinking she’s weak, she’s made it through really well. And plus, she must have done a pretty good job with me, if I do say so myself hehe! So yay for my mom, and all the people in my life who are mothering to me and love me through all those hard days where my sarcastic comments are at an all time high. :)

Holidays without my Dad

Tags: christmas, dad, holidays, mom

Mum and I (by Pictures from Heather)So this is the first round of holidays after losing my Dad earlier this year to pancreatic cancer. I thought it would be easier than it was – Christmas was a lot harder than Thanksgiving was. I tried to make things a little different this year so it would perhaps be easier, but it just wasn’t. I just really, really missed my Dad. There’s just something about death and it’s finality that my heart was so heavy with longing. My mom is also sad, and it’s hard to watch her suffer and miss my Dad in a way I can’t even begin to understand. We both did the best we could, and we had a fun time together but there’s just this unspoken sadness in the air of just my Dad not being there anymore. Life will go on, and things like this will get easier, but wow – painful.

Lunch with mom

Tags: daily life, mom, osteria

My creation (by Pictures from Heather)
I went to a wonderful lunch with my mom yesterday at Osteria. I had gone before and it was absolutely amazing and since then the restaurant has won some awards and was even in Bon Appetite. The best things there are the pizza and the pasta. The pasta I assume is made there because ohmygosh – it just melts in your mouth, tastes like nothing else… The dessert we had are above – peach cannolis and raspberry sorbet. Everything is super fresh and amazing. :D Yum!

When my mom and my aunt cleaned out my grandfathers house a while back they found all sorts of stuff that he had kept that probably should have been thrown away years ago… but some of it came back to my parent’s house and my mom gave it to me. I love old stuff like that – parts of my mom’s life where only half of me was there – not even a full egg yet (the last part of the division to become a $ex cell- happens right before ovulation). So today I was not feeling studying and took a few picture of my mom’s super duper overachiever elementary report cards. :) They are a blast from the past as far as what was graded.

I was at school today when the 1st year class got out from lecture … and wow. I can’t even imagine being a 1st year. 2nd year is remote enough. It’s hard to imagine that in a year I won’t even be in school anymore… I’ll be a doctor?! That doesn’t quite seem real!

White petals (by Pictures from Heather)I’ve seen a lot of blogs say they aren’t political and then go into something about the election this year because it is just that exciting. I’m going to give that same disclaimer although it’s no secret that I am a bleeding heart liberal so you can guess who I support. I think all of this coming out about Palin and being a mother and a strong woman though is really interesting. From Slate: The complicated business of being a superhero mom and NYTimes: A New Twist on the Debate of Mothers. My mum was a working superhero mom :) Of course, my mom stays far away from politics, even though I know she reads about them, hehe!

I’ve been using google chrome and it’s sweet for the google stuff that runs slow on firefox. However I do miss the adblock of firefox!! Has anyone else tried it?
