Project 365 & Friday Fill Ins

Tags: friday fill ins, meme, photography, project 365

One Week
Still doing the project 365, might have had to fill in some gaps here and there… ;) This week went by pretty quickly… I can’t say I’ve enjoyed being in lectures, I feel like my spirit is being kept down because I’m not really doing anything. It really has nothing to do with the lecturers or the topics, some of them I do find interesting, I just like the doing more than the sitting. I’m a person of action ;)

1. For me __being in lectures___ is the opposite of creativity.
2. __Is there no place on earth for me___ was the last excellent book I read was.
3. I like fill-ins because __I don’t have to think too hard ;)___.
4. In nature I like looking at __flowers, beautiful lines, and colors___.
5. __Someone who’s going to take this country in a better direction___ should win the US elections.
6. The last time I laughed with all my belly was __at lunch when my friend said a word funny___.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to __a BBQ___, tomorrow my plans include __clinic duty___ and Sunday, I want to __sleep in!___!

Last Week of Psych

Day 69 Bubbles in the Cleanser (by Goofy Girl Blog Pictures)

I started my last week of psych today. It’s pretty crazy that this rotation is almost over, and then my final rotation of third year. It does scare me how little I feel like I know, but everyone’s gotta start somewhere.

I read an interesting article about showing emotion as doctors and doing things like crying with a patient. It’s been the tradition to not cry with patients, but some doctors feel that it is a good thing. I personally believe that crying as a physician might take the focus away from a patient. I think it’s more important to explore the emotions of the patient and what about the situation makes them upset, or scared. I also think it can depend, if you’ve known a patient for a long time and learn that they have a terminal illness it might be more appropriate to show that kind of emotion, as opposed to a patient you’ve only seen for a few visits. What do you think?

Droplets

Here’s two pictures I took recently that coincidentally had the same idea :)

I randomly took this for project 365:

And then today I noticed the grass was very wet and stopped to take a picture:

Day 43 Car Probs (by Goofy Girl Blog Pictures)
From the flickr description since I need to get to bed and don’t have time to fully post:
The pipe leading to the muffler had a problem – one part had a leak, the other decided to just plain dislocate from the car. ;) Car not only made awesome no-muffler loud noises, but also had accompanying metal dragging noises!!

Car is fixed though *phew!, but my cable/internet is not. Aieeee, frustrations. Need sleep, tomorrow begins a new, less frustrating day!

Day 37 Doggie Treats

Day 37 Doggie Crack (by Goofy Girl Blog Pictures)
If you’ve got a pet what treat do they love best ;) Wolfie would kill for these I think!

So radiology… well, it is interesting all that can be seen even with a simple xray. Everyone is very nice, the doctors explain things to me and point out stuff that’s interesting. They welcome my questions and answer them. The drive is ok, it’s long. Basically all I do is sit there with the radiologist and they read the xrays, ct, mri etc and speak into this voice recognition software. I really miss the patients, hearing their story of how it all happened, doing my crappy physical exam where I forget to look for and do things that are really obvious ;), organizing all of that into the information I present to the attending, getting asked questions that I answer off the seat of my pants, and then going in with the attending and seeing how it really should be done. I liked it better when I was in the peds er, and we saw the Xrays and went over them – although the radiologist are far better. The ER reads the Xrays along with the radiologist, and the ER doesn’t miss the big stuff – its the tiny subtle findings that aren’t the emergency that the radiologists also see. So I will be happy when this rotation is over and I get to talk to patients again – but it’s really bad, just not my thing. :)

Day 22 Small Bottles (by Goofy Girl Blog Pictures)

I’m amassing small bottles for carry on for my trip – my mom and I are leaving for Key West on Friday. :) The weather has gotten very nice here though, so it’s been a nice break from the cold. I’m on my vacation now and it is amazing to wake up and not have to be somewhere. I’m doing some major spring cleaning so the apartment is a disaster area, but hopefully by the end of the vacation it will all be neatened up and seriously de-cluttered!

Day 22 Chain

Day 22 Chain (by Goofy Girl Blog Pictures)

Wolfie and I went swinging on the swing and this was the chain that was a part of it. I’m not sure how Wolfie really liked it, but his tail was very down when we got off so I suspect he did not enjoy it!

The med school dance was very fun! :) The food was rather unique, fajitas… not your usual sort of formal affair dinner, but I guess they were trying to be different. I did lots of dancing too which I normally don’t do, but luckily there isn’t too much photographic evidence of that nor my incredibly red face (I had like two sips of champagne and was looking like I had roasted in the sun all night long)
