Wolfie is crazy about pupperoni, and I’m so used to saying I often all pepperoni pUpperoni. I had both (honestly, like I don’t ever not have pupperoni!) and decided to do a little taste test with Wolfie to see which he preferred. Getting him posed and ready was hard, luckily he is a good doggie.

The winner is pupperoni!! Mmm chemicals…. ;)

While my hours were really long, Wolfie went to have a vacation with my mom. Lucky for me, my mom loves to have Wolfie and it’s a good break for me knowing he’s being well taken care of and I can just come home and sleep. I went to visit him and took a little walk the other week. He’s back home with me now :)

I saw these burrs and thought they would make a good shot… unfortunately they also got all over Wolfie and his paw and so had to abort the walk early to come home and cut those burrs from his hair.

My friend’s Dad took this last week when we were up visiting. :) They have a loft and while we were napping he borrowed the camera to take some fun shots. The little brown pup is Sammy, Wolfie’s “cousin”. Sammy is a very cute little puppy who Wolfie will be staying with while I’m gone. :)

It’s amazing how Sammy and Wolfie are both poodles, but pretty different. Sammy is a fiesty little character and Wolfie is just concerned about who he can cuddle with. :) The only problem is that Sammy has not gone through photo subject boot camp like Wolfie has and is very hard to get to pose. I kept on telling Sammy Stay! and he’d just go wander off!! ;) Wolfie has to teach him that I am generous with the puperoni once my demands are met!

Phew! These last weeks of medical school are rough. So ready to just be done!! I’m really excited that the weekend is just about here and I am in control of my own time! :)

Wolfie turned 5 last week, but I was just so exhausted from rotation that I didn’t have time to celebrate it. :( Bad bad me. Wolfie is not hurting for anything in this world as far as material needs go – he has more than enough toys, and he really has preferential toys anyways so getting him new ones means he plays with em a bit and then goes back to the old standard. It didn’t really seem worth it get him things then – so I was making cupcakes over the weekend and gave him one. On a daily basis this dog is spoiled. I’m always amazed at how much he begs – and I realized that I just don’t notice it when it’s me and him because I’m feeding him while I’m eating. Bad, I know. :P

They were soft and he took big ol bites – so it got all mashed in the roof of his mouth. Looked like he had gotten peanut butter, good for some laughs. :)

Wolfie has been with me before I began medical school – back when I was in graduate school! Long long time, hard to imagine when Wolfie wasn’t here. He’s a very talkative little guy – always has a little squeak to add in to the conversation, complete with moving his mouth like he’s actually talking. He keeps me company when I’m feeling blue and brings me happiness when I see him having fun himself. I think it’s a unique and wonderful thing to have a pet – whether it be dog, cat, rodent, bug, snake, bird and it’s brought lots of extra love and joy into my life for sure. :)

So since I was just enjoying the day on Friday, I decided to let Wolfie go swimming. He sometimes does seem like he wants to, but I don’t want him smelling like pond scum or it’s too cold for him to be wet, etc – but I had the time that if he needed the bath we could do that or if he needed to be rushed home because he was cold that was possible too. So I told him to go after the ducks. And he did!! He went swimming after them, realized he was too slow and came back out.

Rarely you can see Wolfie’s eyes because they are black, Wolfie’s black and his hair is in the usually poodle fro that hangs over his eyes. Sometimes though, you just luck out and you see those cute little eyes. =)

Wolfie is suffering from a herniated disc according to the vet. He wasn’t acting right on weds, very sullen, didn’t want to be picked up and would occasionally sound that awful scream. He was marginally better thursday, and Friday the same more or less and then there was another episode of the screaming. I took him to the vet and he has a herniated disc. I’m not sure how that is known vs a back sprain being no imaging was done – but I did not go to vet school!!! And after seeing people who love to second guess doctors I do not wish to become one of those. The treatment though since he doesn’t have any neurologic problems (no limping, foot dragging, etc) is rest, rest, rest for a month – crating basically. Wolfie is an active dog and this is going to be hard. He is also getting a muscle relaxer, and some pain killers. He seems to be better today so I hope that’ll continue to be the case.

I went and visited some friends today and their adorable little puppy Sammy :)

He is just too cute. It made me remember a lot about Wolfie’s puppyhood and training him… all the fun that came along with that, with also learning how to take care of him and loving this little doggie who came into my life. Wolfie and Sammy got along ok, Wolfie is kind of a cranky old man since he’s used to just me and he is possessive over this one toy that he has at home (my friends got the same one for Sammy). They played a little bit though – very cute.

Wolfie did have a jealousy problem, no surprise there though. It kind of reminded me of kids and the little game they play when there’s a new little one – the ignoring, the being a little too rough, the walking infront of things… Then of course, Wolfie knew what I was doing but didn’t want to be a part of the pictures so he often wouldn’t look at the camera. Sammy isn’t trained for pictures the way Wolfie is, so it was a little bit harder with Wolfie doing what he was doing – aka what’s in this shot ;) It’s hard though, Wolfie’s used to being the prince – and he’s been babysat by my friends before so he comes in expecting the royal treatment but instead this new little guy is there who gets all the attention!! Obviously Wolfie did not understand my explanation beforehand. ;) The two of them exhausted each other though and now Wolfie’s fast asleep on the couch – but he did bring his ball with him to bed, you know just in case Sammy stopped by.

So I’ve decided to do NaBloPoMo – a post a month for November. It will be a challenge since I’m here and there, and then leaving for Hawaii 11/22. However, nothing that can’t stop me from doing what I’d like to do!
