Life returned to normal - I had my geriatrics rotation this morning, and then the afternoon filled with trying to catch up on things that had been neglected that continued into the evening. I also got Wolfie, so my little pup is back with me :) Tomorrow we have a big presentation, and then I have a grant report due on Tuesday, but things should settle down since I got a lot of work done today.

I came back home today, but had a lot to catch up on. :) Since I slept on the plane I’m having a little bit of trouble sleeping, so tomorrow will be a tired sort of day. I uploaded my pictures, I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I would have liked, but since I would in a group of classmates it was a little harder to do the stopping every 5 seconds like I normally do. ;) They found it amusing how I would be walking with them one second, and the next disappear into a bush for a picture!

I found this statue when we stopped in a hotel to use their bathroom. The lighting was crappy, but I feel as though this photo draws you to look at what the statue is looking at instead of the photo itself. :)

New Orleans - saying hello

Hello Everyone ;) New Orlleans is very cute and I love the French Quarter. I haven’t seen too many signs of the devestation from Katrina but I would assume that the areas I am in - tourist areas would be the first to be built back up. I don’t have Internet access so this is all through my iPhone. I hope all of you had a good weekend and have a good week. :)

Convention Time

I’m off to New Orleans until Weds for an ob/gyn convention :) And I have a rotation in urogynecology set up for 4th year that I found out about today. I’ll also be doing a Maternal Fetal Medicine rotation. :D Exciting! I’ll try to pop in and say hello, as well as upload pics. May schedule in some posts too.

Broken glass

I try to pair some of the pictures I’ve taken with a post, but I can’t think of anything good to say. So here’s this one with some broken glass from a picture frame I threw Wolfie’s toy at. ;) I was playing with him, threw his little soccer ball, and knocked the picture frame off the wall. Opps!

Today I played at the anatomy memorial service that the 1st years organized for their cadavers. I remember two years ago being at that memorial and saying Thank you to my cadaver Molly. Molly with her beautiful white curls, manicured fingernails, and body that had lived 90+ years. :) I didn’t particularly like the class, but seeing the human body in that way was beyond amazing.

Today was also the end of classes for the 2nd years, and the tradition of jumping into the fountain. :) So much has happened in the year since then that it hardly seems just a year ago I was being thrown into that fountain! I no longer am a nervous little thing going into a patients room, and can easily have a conversation with my patient without so many ums and reading questions off my notebook!

And then tomorrow marks the final day for the 4th year class that will be graduating in a couple of weeks. So in a year that will be me…

Geriatrics has been pretty lax hours, but they do expect a lot of reading and all so I’ve been busy doing that. :)

Last rotation of 3rd year

I began my last rotation today, geriatrics. I think it’s cute that one of my buddies is on ob right now so we’re at the two poles of life. :) I start in long term care, so it’s doctors who service nursing homes and the like. It was ok.
